Part of what defines us as human is the interactive processes between
memory, emotion and imagination
These images are from the same scene, a park conservatory viewed across
a small, ornamental lake. The scene is familiar in my memory as a
landmark denoting proximity. Both are images of perception rather
than representation. I find it difficult to articulate the
associated emotional tags except to state that for me, the first image
evokes a calm, still feeling of security, the second is a challenge to
the first. Viewers may perceive these images entirely differently
which is a good thing. It means that subject matter cannot be
precisely defined as it has a personal as well as a general human
element.
